Name: Tom ‘Busted’ Cato
From: York

In Leeds because…

Leeds is the best city in the history of man. Fact.

What brought you to the wonder that is Leeds Acoustic?
Bromance, love for live music, beer, purple crayons.

Dream gig?
The Paper Bears… at Wembley.

Favourite Leeds Acoustic night?

Rotten Core @ Bad Apples

Musical heroes & heroines – Bradley Nowell, Dave Ghrol, Tom Morello.

Musical villains (if you’re nasty enough to say!) – Less of avillain… more of a total ****, Axel Rose. Nuff said.

Northern music scene aside, what else do you get up to?
Design and art, sometimes poetry… buuuuut I’m not going to tell you about that!… yet. I play in 2 bands, The Paper Bears and Silver Story. I also enjoy a can of Monster… on a pretty constant basis.

Favourite music act to look out for in the upcoming months…?       I’m really rating Jimmy Islip and The Magnificent at the moment, check them out on bandcamp. Esperscout also have some rather legendary remixes up.
Any other miscellaneous thoughts or comments, please note them here –

PUT YA PAWS UP! That is all.

The decay of ROTTEN CORE at Bad Apples

The Most recent line up of ROTTEN CORE

Now personally I fell in love with this venue, not for the Duff sold in cans or the deals on bottled beer but rather the fact that there, in the cellar, a skeleton lay. His name is Vladimir.

We simply had to do something! Tom went for a look, and only one word came out of his stupid face, simply “Yes!” so with that we spoke to Mark and Diane, set about putting on an acoustic metal night (I mean what I had in mind was remember the time when, God I can’t believe I’m about to say this, Stain’d did “Outside” & Funeral For A Friend did an acoustic version of “Juneau” – well I thought at least one of them was pretty decent and I’m not confident enough to say which – though you’ll probably YouTube them both after reading this) and it was a success, though it was difficult to find metal bands that had full acoustic sets (Big shout out to Prowl here as they pretty much put a set together for us! Cheers guys!)

The next ROTTEN CORE saw Twig Lebowski, from My Forever (they’d just done a tour of a load of O2 Academies), opening for us, a clear ladies man set the tone perfectly for Horse in Transit (my personal highlight of any night ever, a thirty strong sing along to “She wants to f**k me, she wants my d*ck – in and around her mouth” starred out so my younger brother, if he reads this, can’t tell what it says.) But came the death of the once beautiful and intricate dream of acoustic metal (when talking to a cynic about this they said “good, just sounded like emo shit anyway”).

So now ROTTEN CORE has evolved into featuring a full band set up. The last one was stormed by evenflowerskill (definitely not “emo shit”) even I was nodding my head out of time! No doubt Tom will soon be uploading a video of their (what’s the “cool” way to put it?) very good (?) performance as this is far and away his favourite night and also one he doesn’t mind losing sleep over…

Anyway’s track the evolution of ROTTEN CORE beneath:
